Explore Mongolia’s most remarkable landscapes on this 14-day journey through the Gobi Desert and Central Mongolia. The itinerary combines striking natural scenery with important historical sites once connected by the ancient Silk Road.

Begin in Ulaanbaatar with visits to the National History Museum, Gandan Monastery, and Zaisan Hill. Travel south into the Gobi Desert to discover Baga Gazriin Chuluu, the dramatic cliffs of Tsagaan Suvraga, the shaded Yol Valley in Gurvan Saikhan National Park, the vast Khongor Sand Dunes, and the famous Flaming Cliffs of Bayanzag.

Continue north through Central Mongolia, visiting the ruins of Ongiin Khiid, the UNESCO-listed Orkhon Valley and Waterfall, and Kharkhorum, the ancient capital of the Mongol Empire, including Erdene Zuu Monastery. Enjoy a peaceful stop at Lake Ugii and wildlife viewing at Hustai National Park, home to the rare Przewalski horse.

The journey concludes at the Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue Complex, honoring the founder of the Mongol Empire.

TOUR ITINERARY

DAY 1.

ARRIVAL DAY & CITY TOUR

Today, we will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to the hotel***. 
If you want, you can rest for a while, and then we will start a city tour. 
We will visit

- Zaisan Hill memorial, from which you can see the whole city.

After that, we will see a Mongolian traditional folk concert at 6 pm, then have dinner and transfer to the hotel.

DAY 2. 

DRIVE TO BAGA GAZRIIN CHULUU

This morning, after breakfast at the hotel, our guide and driver will pick you up, and we will drive to Baga Gazriin Chuluu, the rocky formation known as the "stone of the little place," located northwest of the Dundgovi province. Therefore, you can see inscriptions on the rock written by two venerated monks who lived there in the 19th century. We will visit the ruins of an old temple dating from the 17th century.

We can see a deep, narrow hole. The stagnant rainwater could be used to treat ocular illnesses. There is a little ladle on the rock for the people to wash their eyes with the sacred water.

DAY 3.

DRIVE TO TSAGAAN SUVRAGA "WHITE STUPA"

This morning, after a hearty breakfast at your tourist camp, we will drive to Tsagaan Suvarga, located in Dundgovi province.
It is interesting to see the sheer slope facing east, which, from a distance, seems to be the ancient city's ruins.

DAY 4.

DRIVE TO YOL VALLEY "VULTURE CANYON"

This morning, we will drive to Yol Valley (Vulture Canyon). It is a beautiful, deep canyon with many rocky cliffs created by many years of water erosion. After arrival at the canyon, we will take a 2-hour hike and see parts of a glacier left over from the winter months. Sustainable travel
​We can visit the local Natural History Museum on our way in/out of the park, where dinosaur eggs and bones, petrified trees, and a snow leopard are displayed.

DAY 5.

DRIVE TO KHONGOR SAND DUNES "SINGING DUNE"

Khongor sand dune is one of Mongolia's largest and most spectacular dunes, standing as high as 200 meters above the ground, 7-8 km wide, and 180 km long. Climbing the dunes is breathtaking, not just for the view from the top.

It surprises climbers that the dunes make a singing sound while you climb; that is why they are nicknamed the singing dunes. Sustainable travel

The sand dunes give you an extraordinary sense of comfort and infinite peace. Once we get there, we will ride a camel along the Khongor dunes. The two-humped Bactrian camels are very comfortable to ride as they walk slowly and gently. You will be well supported by the humps, sitting comfortably between them.

DAY 6.

DRIVE TO BAYANZAG FLAMING CLIFFS

This morning, we are going to drive to the Bayanzag area. Known as a Flaming Cliffs "Cradle of Dinosaurs," this is where the first nest of dinosaur eggs ever discovered was found in 1922. We will explore the area.

DAY 7.

DRIVE TO THE RUINED ONGI MONASTERY

This morning, after enjoying a hearty breakfast at our tourist camp, we will set off on a scenic drive to the ruins of the Ongi Monastery. Once one of the largest Buddhist monasteries in Mongolia, it was home to hundreds of monks before being destroyed in the 1930s.

Today, you can explore its remaining structures, visit a small museum, and take in the tranquil beauty of the surrounding Ongi River valley.

DAY 8.

DRIVE TO ULAANTSUTGALAN WATERFALL, ORKHON VALLEY

Today, we will drive to the Orkhon Valley, which was inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2005 for its outstanding cultural landscape and historical significance. Many of Mongolia’s ancient monuments, including remnants of old capitals and nomadic empires, lie within its basin. Ulaan Tsutgalan Waterfall, also known as Orkhon Waterfall, was formed by volcanic eruptions approximately 20,000 years ago and flows along the Orkhon River, Mongolia's longest river.

The waterfall cascades from a height of 22 meters and spans about 10 meters, creating a striking natural landmark amid vast steppe scenery. We will visit a nomadic family to experience their traditional lifestyle and hospitality, followed by one hour of horse riding across the surrounding grasslands.

DAY 9.

DRIVE TO TUVKHUN MONASTERY

Today, we will drive to Tuvkhun Monastery. Visitors hike 5 km up to the monastery from the mountain's skirt. The Tuvkhun monastery was first established in 1648 by the 14-year-old Zanabazar first Jebtsundamba khutuktu Bogd.

He first noticed this beautiful place in 1651 and then built a small wooden cabin for meditation. That was the beginning of the Tuvkhun monastery.

DAY 10.

DRIVE TO 13th CENTURY CAPITAL KHARKHORUM & ERDENE ZUU MONASTERY

In the morning, we will drive to the Kharkhorum, the Great Mongolian Empire's ancient capital. The city served as the Mongolian capital for only 40 years (until Khubilai Khaan moved it to Beijing). Chinese soldiers later destroyed most of the city during the second half of the 14th century. The remnants of the town were used to build the Erdene Zuu Monastery in the 16th century. sustainable travel
Upon arrival in the Kharkhorum, the first and most prominent landmark is the massive walls of the Erdenezuu Monastery, the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia. Explore the area and visit the museum, etc.

DAY 11. 

DRIVE TO UGII LAKE

In the morning, we will drive to Uglii Lake, a freshwater lake in eastern Arkhangai, central Mongolia. sustainable travel
The lake, designated a Ramsar Site of International Importance, is known for its fish and bird life. It is a stopover point for migrating water birds of the family Anatidae.​
Almost half the lake is less than 3 m deep. We can swim and fish there. Do not forget to bring your swimsuit. Today, we will have a traditional Mongolian BBQ for dinner.

DAY 12.

DRIVE TO HUSTAI NATIONAL PARK

Today, we are going to drive to Hustai NP. The park lies in the foothills of the northern Khentii mountain range, where you can see wild horses called Takhi, known as Przewalski horses, to the world. sustainable travel

Wild horses survive in nature by themselves because they have been reintroduced successfully to their homeland after 40 years of extinction. Currently, the number of Takhi has already reached more than 450. Visit a local museum.

DAY 13. 

DRIVE TO CHINGGIS KHAN EQUESTRIAN STATUE COMPLEX & TERELJ NATIONAL PARK

This morning, after having breakfast, we will drive to Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue Complex, built in 2008, on the eight-hundredth anniversary of the Mongolian Empire's foundation in honor of its founder, Chinggis Khan. This giant stainless steel statue weighs 250 tons and is 40 meters (131 feet) high; it's the tallest statue representing a man on horseback in the world. If you want, we will be able to do some shopping.

Then, we will drive to Terelj National Park, considered one of the most beautiful places worth visiting because it combines sharp mountains with granite cliffs, forests, and rivers. Once we get there, we will see the Aryabal Buddhist meditation temple. The park looks so beautiful and peaceful from the top of the temple. After that, we will drive back to the city. Transfer you to your hotel.

DRIVE BACK TO ULAANBAATAR CITY / DEPARTURE
