Terelj National Park tour Mongolia and turtle rock.

Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue Complex

This morning, your driver and tour guide will pick you up from where you are and then drive to Terelj National Park, 70 km northeast of Ulaanbaatar. It takes nearly two hours to drive from the capital. The Park lies 1600 meters high and offers excellent hiking, horse riding, and rock climbing opportunities. The landscape is similar to the Alps.
It is a national park that started to develop in the 1960s and was officially designated as a national park in 1994. Inside the Park are protected animal ranges such as birds (250 species), moose, and bears. As developed for tourism, some Ger camps have car parking and electricity. Most tourist camps work only during summer seasons, and a few operate the whole year round. Turtle Rock, known as Melkhi Khad by the locals, is a massive rock formation that looks like a turtle. Turtle Rock is the primary image of the National Park. Besides that, you may discover many interesting rock formations from the huge Rocky Mountains of the Terelj.

Aryabal Monastery

Aryabal Meditation temple

Our next stop is the Aryabal meditation temple, which was built in 1810-s by Mongolian and Tibetan artists in Terelj National Park. In many cases Buddhist monks from Manzushir monastery came to this temple to make meditation. The temple style is more Tibetan styled like white square shaoed and white colored main building and porcelain roofs decorated with Buddhist and religious signs. In 1937-1939 Mongolian communists came to this temple and destroyed it completely and killed some monks from this temple. Later in 2000 Buddhist monks of Lamiran temple in Ulaanbaatar initiated the project to restore this temple and completed the restoration work in 2004-2007.

Lamiran temple monks sometimes come to this temple and cater religious service here and in many days of year it is open place for visitors and tourists, who want to thank for the god and do meditation. The set of 108 stone stairs will lead you to the main temple and 108 small stupas and 108 prayer wheels were placed around the temple. Moreover, signs with 144 Buddhist teachings, written in English and Mongolian, lined the sides of the path.

Chinggis Khan Equestrian Statue Complex

The statue is 40 meters tall and wrapped in 250 tons of gleaming stainless steel. The equestrian statue of Genghis Khan was built in 2008 on the eight-hundredth anniversary of the foundation of the Mongolian Empire in honor of its founder, Genghis Khan. The people of Mongolia honored him by erecting the world's giant equestrian statue in his likeness. Located 34 miles from Ulaanbaatar in an area known as Tsonjin Boldog,
It's currently the highest statue representing a man on horseback worldwide. It stands on a 10-meter base surrounded by 36 columns representing the 36 kings Mongolia experienced during its history, from the first one, Genghis Khan, to the last one, Ligden Khan. The statue is turned toward the East, the conqueror's place of birth. After discovering the statue complex, we will drive back to the city and drop you off where you want to. End of the tour.
