DAY 1.
TERELJ NATIONAL PARK
This morning, your driver and tour guide will pick you up from your location and then drive to Terelj National Park, 70 km northeast of Ulaanbaatar. It takes nearly two hours to drive from the capital. The Park lies at an altitude of 1600 meters and offers excellent hiking, horse riding, and rock climbing opportunities.
The landscape is similar to the Alps. It is a national park that began development in the 1960s and was officially designated in 1994. Inside the Park are protected animal ranges, including birds (250 species), moose, and bears. As developed for tourism, some Ger camps have car parking and electricity.
Most tourist camps operate only during the summer season, and a few operate year-round. Turtle Rock, known as Melkhi Khad by locals, is a massive rock formation shaped like a turtle. Turtle Rock is the primary image of the National Park. Besides that, you may discover many interesting rock formations in the vast Rocky Mountains of the Terelj.

ARYABAL MEDITATION TEMPLE
Our next stop is the Aryabal meditation temple, built in 1810 by Mongolian and Tibetan artists in Terelj National Park. In many cases, Buddhist monks from Manzushir monastery came to this temple to do meditation.
The temple style is more Tibetan, with a square white shape and a white main building, and porcelain roofs decorated with Buddhist and religious signs. In 1937-1939, Mongolian communists came to this temple and eradicated it, and killed some monks from this temple. Later in 2000, Buddhist monks at Lamiran temple in Ulaanbaatar initiated the project to restore the temple, and completed the restoration work in 2004-2007.
Lamiran temple monks sometimes come here to conduct religious services, and on many days of the year, it is open to visitors and tourists who want to thank God and meditate. The set of 108 stone stairs will lead you to the main temple, and 108 small stupas and 108 prayer wheels were placed around the temple. Moreover, signs with 144 Buddhist teachings, written in English and Mongolian, lined the sides of the path.
